2013 is shaping up to be a big year for teams at Catalyst Games 2013.
Last year, I registered as an Indie to push myself through August (I respond well to pressure, even self-imposed.) I knew that I'd have more fun on a team, but had to try it once, and Mel's competent management of the Games opened that door.
This year, the name "Ginger Ninjas" hit me during a workout, and I sought out two of my favourite co-Ginjas to make up a team. Lisa and Esther are going to carry me to the podium, I have no doubt, and I'll be happy to coast along on their coattails.
I wasn't the only one. Former Games winner SFM has gone Team, and Sudbury's crew looks to be organizing itself in groups of three. Michele Irwin and Luke Cloutier are back together after Michele took 2012 off to judge, with Mark Allard replacing Cardinali in their trio. Cuddy has migrated to his own team, and added the highly-skilled Ronnie and amazing Aryanna to build a solid contender. Philsy and Rich picked up Dee to boost their team, and they'll be shooting for a podium spot. The Fryias are forming their own nucleus, called "The 145s," and you know they'll be showing up to compete.
Teams of 'Scaled' division athletes are usually plentiful, as athletes competing for fun like to party with their friends. We'll see these teams sign up at the last minute, I'm sure.
With a few dozen registered for Team competition this year, it's going to be HOT under the tent. Who's going to take the Team title...and more importantly, who's going to have the best Team t-shirts?
