Step #1: write down every potential market segment you can dream up on the 'X' axis.
Step #2: write down the individual services you currently offer on the 'Y' axis.
Step #3: Locate every intersection possible, where a service you offer meets the demands of a market.
Step #4: Colour code your priorities, based on revenue. For instance, services generating more than $20,000 in revenue annually are coloured green; services generating $10-20,000 annually are coloured yellow, etc.
Step #5: Your 'green' blocks are your 'A' priorities - for staffing, planning in advance, marketing, etc.
Now that you have the chart, you can apply your cash flow forecasts to coordinate staff and promotion in advance. Just do the same chart with colours reflecting what you EXPECT to happen, instead of what's currently happening. We use the 'current' numbers first, because they may surprise you....
