These last two weeks, I've been laying out an action plan to drive your Affiliate forward, to the place where it can truly provide the kind of financial platform on which you want to live.
While reading these, you're likely thinking, "This is stuff to be done at startup," which is exactly what I thought. But startup is far from ideal, for most of us: in our case, it was a $16,000 personal loan from a shareholder; green paint over grey wallpaper in a small space over a stationery store; seven thousand mistakes and a few hours on bended knee. Know that, while these instructions are imperfect even under perfect conditions, it's still well worth going through the exercises if you've been in the CrossFit business for five years or more.
The simple act of writing down goals was an epiphany for me. Working backward from those goals - what seems an obvious course to take, in retrospect - changed my mind on a few things, threw light on a few others, and have made me reconsider a few more.
It's not easy. It requires a lot of soul-searching, especially when the boxes line up in a scary way (you'll see, tomorrow, how that can happen.) It's worth doing anyway. Perfect is the enemy of great.
