What seems like common sense to you...may not be all that common.
To me, it's an obvious foul to drop an empty bar on the floor. To that new guy, who walked into his first CrossFit group on the weekend without any idea what a Snatch is? Not as obvious.
To you, it's probably clear that you don't want wet, salty feet in your changeroom. To her...well, she's nervous enough about wearing gym clothes and working out in front of people for the first time EVER. Worried about her hair afterward, and not embarrassing herself. No, she wouldn't do it in her house, but here, she's trying to remember enough details that 'little' things slip her mind.
After a few years, you get tired of telling people that your 'open gym' hours end precisely at 7pm, when CrossFit groups take over again. But if you DON'T tell them, don't expect them to know.
I did last week. As usual, 10% were causing 90% of the little issues we faced. Most of the 10% were embarrassed; some questioned the rules; but most simply didn't know. Are you projecting what YOU know onto everyone else, and mistaking it for common sense? I certainly was.
sounds like you may have lost some friends...bah, who needs those anyways eh.

Actually, I think it improves relationships with members to clear the air. Much healthier than having a lot of passive-aggressive activity around. In this case, it certainly helped with my own stress level, and several people were appreciative. As I mentioned, they just didn't know any different.
