In addition to editing "Two-Brain Business," my new book about building and operating a successful CrossFit Box or Garage Gym, I'm incredibly fortunate to be on the CrossFit Media Team. My role, beginning a few weeks ago, is to collect stories for the new Community Page.
It's a LOT of fun. Every day, I hear a new story about a CrossFitter doing something extraordinary. These gifts of great empathy and courage sometimes happen within their Box, and sometimes outside, but ALL list CrossFit as a driving force.
Surprisingly, and perhaps sadly, the majority of these stories are buried. Even when someone like me, who WANTS to share your Affiliate's special purpose with the world, is creeping your website...your special stories can be tough to find.
After reviewing over 300 sites in the last week, I'm surprised to find:
- Almost half of all Affiliates don't have their contact information on their main page.
- Almost 30% of all Affiliates have a 'contact us' form, but don't give out their email address ANYWHERE.
- Around 40% of Affiliate websites send a new user straight to their WOD page.
- Most Affiliate sites don't have an obvious point of differentiation, even in more crowded centres.
Answer this question: WHY US?
The average lifetime value of a client is nearly $10,000. If I'm on your site, and can't find a convenient way to ask questions about my knee injury...I'll just ask the next guy. He'll know.
Thanks Chris...Our website is not the best, but we have some of the key points you mention taken care of, but I never realized that our e-mail isn't spelled out anywhere. We have the contact us page and our phone # listed but not the e-mail. Correcting that one today.

I think I hesitate to post my exact email on the site for fear of receiving 100's of spam emails. Is that an urban myth?
